Even Nelson Mandela gets heckled

As professional presenters we have to develop tough hides and learn very quickly that sometimes, there’s nothing we can do but accept that someone doesn’t like us.  If we don’t, then a career of sweat filled nights of terror-stricken anticipation and alcohol softened evenings of solace await.

Even that God-like figure of admiration and hero worship, Nelson Mandela has had his bad days. He tells the story that a few days after his release from 27 years as a political prisoner, he received a telegram from a Cape Town housewife saying: “I am very glad that you are free, and that you are back among your friends and family, but your speech yesterday was very boring.”  Tough crowd eh?

    1. Hi there,

Thanks for the comment, very kind. In terms of looks for the blog, I spent about $200 getting one of my friends, who’s a designer, to pretty it up. He’s in Barcelona, Spain, I’m in England, and we did it all remotely.

I can give you his name and help if you like. I’ve looked at your blog and it’s great. And a few ‘quid’ spent would make it really stand out visually.

      Jim
