Why we should practice what we preach, when we're preachers

Posted on

A professional conference in the UK, 2010. Syndicate speakers, famous published author on communication, 200 seats, all attendees looking forward to pearls of wisdom and quotable quotes, high expectations. The audience began to assemble, sat where they thought they could, happy, chatting amongst themselves, waiting.  Scheduled start time passed with no comment from the stage. Audience also totally ignored by the three luminaries on the stage, no head nods, no signs of welcome or even acknowledgement.

The room filled up and more, no explanation offered for the delay, 10 minutes, 15 minutes delay, people started to leave, speaker got mad, audience laughed, topic that they spoke on- ‘congruence in communication’-  You are the bloody message!
