I’ve been experimenting a lot recently. Always trying to use fewer words on the screen, sharing the thoughts with the audience, trusting them to come up with the relevant items that you can 
That much freedom in a session still needs structure to work, or it’s easy to turn it into a guided tour of your YouTube library. But a little structure around the enjoyable discussion and sharing of ideas is all you need to make it work. What’s the minimum structure you’d need to make such an engaging session work? How about?
- A clear point for the session, or ‘Big Idea’, as Nancy Duarte puts it.
- A clear explanation of what each video is about and why it’ll help the people in the crowd get ‘the point’.
- Then a clear description of what you want them to look out for while watching the video.
- Then following the video and the discussion, have a simple summary of the key points they raised, followed by a ‘you might also think about this’ summary of your key points if they haven’t already been covered. And remember there’s little more irritating for an audience to be asked a question, to answer it, and then be told ‘the right answer’. So don’t do that.
Have a go at it the next time you want to engage the audience. It’s a break from the regular for you and for them. Good luck.
