I met Sunil Bali at an event last month. He’s a great guy and writes an interesting and challenging blog, called ‘Adventures in Awesome Living…’ Here’s a great thought starter from him. Half aphorism, quote and truth (I know the maths doesn’t work). ”Three little birds are sitting on a branch of a tree. Two…
What do you do when you’re stuck in an airport hotel, with 15 hours to kill, and no inclination to do anything immoral, illegal or unwise? Switch on the TV and surf the waves of effluent. ‘Anywhere Idol?, No.’ ‘Al Jazeera? No.’ ‘CNBC? I’m not that desperate… And here it is, a shaft of sunlight…
I work with some great speakers in my day to day existence. People who lead businesses and do great things, and the last thing they need from me is coaching on the ‘how’ to deliver a relevant, focused message. They know how. They tend to use me as a source of stories, anecdotes, facts and…
For people like me, who fail to be funny and original at the same time, here’s a set of great quotes from the UK’s ‘Total Politics’ blog. Journalists often like the easy option in a press conference and rehash tired old cliches and long-dead ‘incidents’ looking for a scoop….
You’ve got to love Vladimir Putin haven’t you? OK, Probably not. And maybe have some sympathy with him? OK, definitely not. But you have to admit that he is bloody funny. Asked to comment, in a generally testy press-conference, on China’s huffy fit about Liu Xiaobo receiving the Nobel Prize for Peace, (well he won’t actually receive it,…
Three more great quotes with references for those of us who like to ‘dote on scraps of learning’ as the last quoted suggests! On reputations- The very purpose of existence is to reconcile the glowing opinion we have of ourselves with the appalling things that other people think about us. – Quentin Crisp On Flattery- He…
Any clod can have the facts, but having opinions is an art. – Charles McCabe The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or…
