Here’s a lady that you probably won’t know. Rachel Willis, of Virtual Studio TV Ltd. Based in Cambridge, UK.
She’s a model for female presenters in corporate life. She’s calm, professional, confident and feminine. And more than anything else she’s being herself. What I like about her style is that she blends-
- The formal/informal style required for most corporate environments really well, and so even though here she’s wearing jeans, she comes over as professional, connected and knowledgeable so there’s no ‘dissonance’ in the audience’s heads.
- She smiles– which so few people really do in a cooperate setting. Nerves make us narrow our emotional range and response and that often distances us from the people in the room. Smiling is one way of bridging that emotional gap. And with Rachel you do get to like her, don’t you?
- Technically she’s a good presenter (Her standing, walking, talking, eye contact etc.) , but it’s her warmth that really makes her stand out.
Rachel and her brother Simon run Virtual TV studios Ltd, in Cambridge and are my chosen partners for video work and distribution and I couldn’t recommend them more highly. Find them here-
